Painting is silent poetry

A painting needs a little mystery, a little ambiguity and a little imagination. That is when the spirit works with the hand. A space that exudes simplicity and repose. Then what existed in the world of ideas becomes flesh and bones and unfolds a story before our eyes.

The Minoan fisherman, a vividly naturalistic silhouette from a house in Akrotiri village in Santorini from the 16th century BC. The fishes he carries probably are dolfin fishes that are common in the area. Santorini was my home for two years.
